Halloween Chocolate Sprinkle Cookies with Bleeding Candle and Spiders
I love Halloween—it’s my favorite holiday! I’m always excited when October comes around and I can start making scary Halloween treats, like my blood-splattered cookies or these jagged glass cupcakes.
Halloween Chocolate Sprinkle Cookies
This Halloween on Flavorful Journeys I wanted to feature a dessert that isn’t as macabre as in years past (don’t worry if you like the dark side of Halloween as much as I do—I’ve also included instructions for making the bleeding candle pictured above). So I made Halloween chocolate sprinkle cookies with dark chocolate Hershey’s kisses.
These cookies are easy to make, festive, and tasty. Kids can help with the preparation and will enjoy rolling the chocolate cookie dough in the orange and black sprinkles. Once baked, the kiss becomes creamy and chocolatey, while the dough resembles a brownie.
Chocolate Cookie Dough Balls with Halloween Sprinkles
Make a chocolate cookie dough (recipe and detailed instructions below) and refrigerate until firm. Remove from fridge and divide into 38-40 pieces. Using the palm of your hand, shape the dough into round balls.
Chocolate Cookie Dough Covered in Halloween Sprinkles
Carefully pour sprinkles onto a small plate. Roll the dough over the sprinkles until fully covered. Place the cookies onto two baking sheets and cook for 8 minutes.
Halloween Chocolate Sprinkle Cookies with Hershey’s Kisses
Remove the cookies from the oven and quickly place a Hershey’s kiss in the center of each cookie. Allow them to cool slightly, then serve.
Bleeding Halloween Candle
This is one of the easiest, cheapest Halloween decorations you can make, but it looks absolutely wicked!
You will need:
- white pillar candle(s)
- black carpet tacks
- a red candlestick
Instructions:
Insert the carpet tacks partly into the white pillar candle(s); I like to stick them in at angles for a more dramatic, haphazard effect. Next, light a red candle, and when the wax starts to melt, drip it over each of the carpet tacks. Then splatter some of the red wax over the top of the white pillar candle.

I hope you enjoy this Halloween candle and these chocolate sprinkle cookies. If you have any cool Halloween recipes or craft ideas, please share them in the comments!
